Annual Fall Festival KLA Schools Plainfield

Plainfield, IL (October 31, 2018) – fall is a glorious time of the year where the foliage is beautiful, and the traditions are as warm and cozy as the sweaters worn. At KLA Schools the staff and families have established their very own traditions. Each fall, the KLA Family, gather on a Saturday morning for the annual Fall Festival. The students also visit a pumpkin patch, walk in a parade next door at Harbor Chase Senior Living, and the parents decorate their vehicles for Trunk or Treating.

This year the Annual Fall Festival was special because it was the Schools 5 year Anniversary. Ms. Erica, the school’s Founding Principal, said, “I remember when they were building the school, and families would visit in the trailer on the construction site. There weren’t finished classrooms to be seen or teachers to meet yet, but because we are a Reggio Emilia Inspired school, which is known as the best philosophy in the world, parents trusted us and registered. From just a few families when we opened five years ago, to all the families we have now, we are so thankful for everyone and are happy that we can spend this sunny fall day celebrating with each other!” During the Fall Fest, children enjoyed the pony rides in the parking lot, face painting in the Atelier, and Fall experiences throughout all of the classrooms.

Each fall the Class of the 3s, Class or the 4s, and Kindergarten class take a field trip to a local pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Ms. Morgan the schools Admissions Director said, “It is awesome that I can attend during these field trips, I enjoy walking around with all of the children as well as their families. When I went with the Class of the 3s, there were 25 students and 23 adults because many of the parents chaperoned. It was such a meaningful experience for everyone because it was, the first field trip and first time on a school bus for the young students. The parents were happy to be able to experience that with them.”

KLA Schools feel that they are extremely lucky to be located next door to Harbor Chase Senior Living Community. Ms. Carrie, the Assistant Principal, said, “At our school, we believe that our students are young citizens of the Plainfield Community. We spend a lot of time visiting the seniors next door. On Halloween, the students dress up in their outfits and parade through the hallways. The residents of Harbor Chase come out of their rooms to admire all of the creative costumes.”

Later that day, the families of KLA Schools came together with their vehicles for Trunk or Treating. The families who volunteer decorate their trunks with a theme. This year there were…. Trunks. The excited students walked from trunk to trunk looking at decorations and collecting the goodies that were passed out.

For families and children, fall traditions like the ones that KLA Schools of Plainfield have, grow rich with significance year after year. As you walk through the school, you’ll hear the students sharing their memories with each other and are already looking forward to next year.
