FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
February 15th, 2021 – The KLA Schools of Naperville and Plainfield have been devoting a lot of time to service projects this semester. According to Trina Engen, Kindergarten teacher, “community service is an essential part of educating the whole child; we need to instill the importance of these core values in our children. These children are the future”. Some of the projects they have been working on have gotten the KLA families involved as well. They have done a food drive for Loaves and Fishes, a toy drive for Edwards hospital pediatrics unit, and most recently, a collection of items for the local humane society. Trina said that “the support our families give us makes all this possible. We are indeed partners with our parents in their child’s education”.
February is a busy month for KLA Schools. Erica Koegel, the school principal at Plainfield, shared. She said that “February is packed with great learning experiences for children, the teachers, and families alike. We have our STEM Fair that parents can participate in, the annual Friendship Party, and a great parent education webinar on transitions by our social, emotional consultant Lena Acosta”.
Erica also shared that President’s Day is a day of professional development for the team. KLA will close both schools for the day and do training on various topics that help the teachers grow professionally and personally. She added that “we are always trying to help our team grow, and the results are well worth the extra training. High program quality and teacher education are directly correlated”.
Despite the release of the COVID-19 vaccine this past month, Carrie Hemmer, the health and safety spokesperson for KLA, says, “We are committed to ongoing top-notch health and safety practices for as long as necessary during this pandemic. In no way are we letting down our guard at this point. We will continue to implement all the practices we have since the virus emerged. Our parents and community are counting on us to do what is best for our children and team”.
KLA has open enrollment right now and is offering personalized virtual and in-person Saturday visits by appointment. Please contact Carrie Hemmer, our admissions director, to schedule a visit to the schools.
